The lead up to summer has been exciting for Parlor Dance as we finished our international tour of ‘Close Distance’ in Germany at the Recklinghausen Festival and received great reviews; including
“The choreography alternates between narrated story and surprising lifts and encounters, but without unfolding the last magic that makes an unforgettable creation…”
The second tour of ‘Close Distance’ has been amazing; sadly we had to say goodbye to our dancer Noam Frank who was one of the original cast for ‘Close Distance’ but we were lucky enough to have Becca Thomas from Birmingham join our team.
The company toured all over the UK including Milton Keynes, Salford,The Brindley, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, The Castle, Wycombe Swan, South East Dance and Brighton. ‘Close Distance’ toured to over 30 venues internationally alongside educational programmes.
‘I’ve seen a lot of dance and this by comparison is top notch-as good as we’ve seen in London.’
‘I thought it was so mixed; it captured your attention in every way.’
‘Can honestly say this is one of the best pieces I have seen.’
Parlor Dance’s artistic director then directed, with her team Effie McGuire Ward and Chris Bradley,’MÓTUS- festival of dynamic dance in Milton Keynes’ which was attended by over 700 people who saw work created by Theo Cllinkard, RDC, Ffin Dance, Motionhouse and Anjali alongside workshops and taking part opportunities. The festival attracted over 700 people who watched the performances and worked with over 77 artists and 152 participants to create a weekend of dance supported by Arts Council England, MK Gallery, The Venue MK, Milton Keynes Council and Arts Gateway MK.
Next is planning for the ‘Home from Home’ tour which will be made and toured in Autumn 2015.
